Mass deletion sparks LiveJournal revolt

(As a warning, this is going to be an abnormally long post with the majority of the linked to article quoted. I think this subject is important as it deals with the freedom of speech on the internet, and it should be given special treatment.)

Thousands of LiveJournal customers are rebelling against the company’s recent decision [...]

Cyberpunk vs. The Real World

GlobalNerdy has published a great table comparing the recent “cyber-attacks” on Estonia with the first fictional account of cyberwar, from William Gibson’s brilliant 1984 debut Neuromancer, the book that gave us the term “cyberspace.” Science fiction writers predict the present, not the future. Gibson’s forthcoming next book, a mind-blower called Spook Country is a [...]

A Marvel Comics hero is giving George Washington some company on the quarter, but the U.S. Mint doesn’t think the stunt is so super.

Microsoft Amnesty Bin for iPods

From the entry way at Zune headquarters, we bring you today’s Flickr Find: the iPod Amnesty Bin. I instinctively wanted to grab [...]

Xbox360 Tells Customer “I Am Laughing At You” And Hangs Up

Is Xbox360 like the most fault-prone device in the history of video gaming or what? As if in a deliberate attempt to add injury to insult to injury, Microsoft provided only a 90-day warranty, AND staffed their call centers with a goodly numbers of jerks. To wit, this recent conversation Richard had when trying to [...]

Metronapping

Apparently, New York City Yelo spa goers aren’t the only people paying to take powernaps in geeky chairs because Metronaps is also offering these little sleep pods for rental in cities around the world. Like the Yelo spa, Metronaps claims a rest in their Energypods enhances workforce productivity. “The EnergyPod is designed for powernapping at [...]
