Sylar as Spock?

Zachary Quinto, who plays the menacing Sylar in NBC’s hit series “Heroes” could be in the running to play one of the icons of science-fiction television and movies–Mr. Spock.

Since the news that J.J. Abrams was helming a revival of the “Star Trek” film franchise that would recast the original crew, Quinto says there has been a huge groundswell of support for him to don the pointed ears.

“When the news about the next Star Trek movie began to surface, I became inundated with e-mails and links to Web sites where people were saying, ‘Zach Quinto should play [young] Spock,” said the actor, according to the most recent issue of Starburst that hit newsstands in the United Kingdom this week. “I started opening myself up to the idea and I think the exploration and immersion to be done with such a character would be amazing.”

I still don’t know what I feel about this who restarting to the Star Trek franchise by using introducing the main cast when they were younger. I don’t think it’ll be good or entertaining or healthy for the series…. basically I imagine  a worst case scenario… which is common for me.

Zachary Quinto is a good action and he kind of has a Spock-ish look to him. It’ll be good to keep the roles in the Science Fiction community.

What I wonder is how come the last two Star Trek: The Next Generation movies were so bad, they had so much to work with and they just created bad stories. An epic TNG trilogy, like the Trilogy from the original series, would have fitted TNG well. But they dropped the ball on it. They should make one more attempt, because I know there is good stuff there.

I could probably  go on for a long time about my grips with the treatment of Star Trek over the last few years. Let’s just say Quinto is a decent choice for a very scary project and leave it at that.
