I follow a lot of what MS does and you would be amazed at what they make testing new stuff or doing proof of concepts. Some of the stuff has pre-dated anything like seen, like expose on mac, but had no business value so they just moved on. Some stuff is really cool but probably won’t be used for 10 to 15 years in a practical application sense so they just move on.
